The Badger Rescue Animal Transport Services made our first run in October of 2008. What started out as an idea by our co-founders has become a lifeline for the many shelters, impound facilities and rescue organizations operating in Wisconsin. BRATS is an all volunteer non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Wisconsin. Our service is available to members of AWARE, the Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies, Wisconsin Dog Rescue and the Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project. We do not get involved in interstate transports as we are stretched to the limit moving animals around within our state boundries.
We work closely with our shelter and rescue partners to stay on a transport schedule everyone can accomodate. Our members are based all over the state of Wisconsin. We all work full time at our "real" jobs which is why most of our volunteers transport at night or on weekends. On occasion we do ask that the shelters or rescues involved to help us with legs of the transports in order to get the job done. We will not drive in bad weather conditions and try to stay off the roads during busy holiday travel times.
Safety is #1 with BRATS. We have established safety protocols for everything from driver safety to sanitizing our equipment after a transport. We would be happy to share what we have learned. Just ask us!
If you are in need of a transport or would like to become a BRATS volunteer, please contact us. Our hotline is (414) 322-1085.
